Histiocytic medullary reticulosis occurring with small cell lung carcinoma.
Haematophagocytic activity is a salient feature of malignant histiocytic medullary reticulosis. This potency has also been observed as an aberrant property of non-histiocytic malignant cells or as a benign histiocytic process in response to infections or malignancies. We report the case of a patient who presented simultaneously with a limited stage small cell lung carcinoma and a fatal reactive...
متن کاملMalignant histiocytosis (histiocytic medullary reticulosis) with spindle cell differentiation and tumour formation.
Malignant histiocytosis (histiocytic medullary reticulosis) in a 45-year-old white man is described. Unusual features were presentation as a surgical emergency with signs of obstruction and peritonitis due to an ileal tumour and extensive spindle cell differentiation. Problems in the differential diagnosis of malignant histiocytosis are briefly discussed.

This series presents further evidence for an association between reticulosis of the intestine and steatorrhoea. Although some patients have a definite past history of gluten enteropathy, it seems likely that in certain patients the reticulosis itself is the primary cause of the steatorrhoea.
متن کاملHistiocytic medullary reticulosis: radiologic diagnosis of splenic infarction--a case report.
A case of histiocytic medullary reticulosis with splenic infaraction from a 23-year-old male is presented. Radiologic findings on selective spleen scintigraphy and abdominal CT are described. Selective spleen scintigraphy showed huge, multilobulated spleen with numerous photon-deficient areas in it and peripherally. Abdominal CT showed large peripheral band-like low density and infiltrative les...

Scott and Robb-Smith (1939), using the name 'histiocytic medullary reticulosis', reported four cases of a subacute illness characterized by fever, anaemia, leucopenia, jaundice and enlargement of the lymph nodes, spleen and liver. Microscopically there was a proliferation of phagocytes and giant cells in the reticulo-endothelial system, the affected tissues showing a tendency to undergo haemorr...
